Frusciante's, The Empyrean, due out January 20:)

Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante is set to release his new album, The Empyrean, worldwide through Record Collection on Jan. 20, 2009! The Empyrean is Frusciante's tenth solo album. He recorded it on and off between December 2006 and March 2008. John says, "It is a concept record that tells a single story both musically and lyrically. The story takes place within one person, and there are two characters. It contains a version of Tim Buckley’s, ‘Song To The Siren’ and the rest of the songs are written by me." Frusciante's friend, Josh Klinghoffer, plays on the album as well as fellow Chili Peppers bandmate Flea. Also featured on the record is guitarist Johnny Marr, who most famous for being in the 80's rock band The Smiths, Sonus Quartet, and The New Dimension Singers. Frusciante is really happy with it; He says, "I’ve listened to it a lot for the psychedelic experience it provides. It should be played as loud as possible and it is suited to dark living rooms late at night." That's right, be excited! Frontman Anthony Kiedis is teaming up with HBO to turn his 2004 autobiography Scar Tissue into a TV series!! The show will focus on Kiedis' childhood and early life. In 1974, Kiedis moved from Michigan to live with his father John (a.k.a Blackie or Spider) in L.A. Blackie dealt drugs to famous rock legends like the guys of Led Zeppelin and Keith Moon of The Who. At 12 years old, Anthony had smoked weed for his first time, lost his virginity to one of his dad's girlfriends, and hung out at the Rainbow Bar and Grill on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood which was a hangout spot for many celebrities and rock musicians. Kiedis says of his relationship with his dad, "He introduced me to the arts, to a more culturally magnificent life. But some of it was this quite heavy, adult matter that I wasn't capable of digesting." Anthony is looking forward to producing the project and bonding with Blackie. He may provide narration for the show as well=)

DID YOU KNOW THAT...

Flea played the voice of Donnie in Nikelodeon's The Wild Thornberrys:) He got to free his inner wild child in the animated television series than aired from 1998 to 2004, The Wild Thornberrys Movie, The Origin of Donnie and Rugrats Go Wild. I read that Flea was the clear choice to provide the voice of Donnie Thornberry with his childlike energy and unpredictable stage antics.

"It's been a great opportunity for me to be a part of something that touches little kids," Flea says, "because making kids happy is just my favorite thing in the world." He sees in Donnie many of the qualities he admires in children: "Kids are so curious because they haven't figured a lot of stuff out yet," he says. "They always want to learn and they never think they know it all. We should all have that beginner's mind."

How awesome is this! I used to love watching the show and I enjoyed the movie=) If they actually showed reruns, I would totally watch.

Meeting Anthony Kiedis in Pittsburgh:)

Over this past summer Grace, Britt, Carly and I took a six hour road trip to Pittsburgh just to see Anthony Kiedis! Anthony curated this years New American Music Union that was held on August 8 and 9 at South Side Works, Pittsburgh. Curated means organized/hosted. He put together the lineup and chose the artists. Anthony was pretty much hiding during the festival, he didn't want things to be about him.. he wanted the festival to be dedicated to the performers which is understandable but kinda upsetting. My friends and I spotted Anthony on the side of the stage looking sexy as always, eating, dancing, sporting a bandana and shirt with kisses:) We couldn't control ourselves. We were jumping up and down and tearing up and just in absolute awe. Anthony looked at us and smiled and I blew him a kiss and he blew one back at us!! My friend Brittanys an artist and she made this poster that her and Grace spent the whole night before decorating. They both are very creative haha but Brittany held her sign up and she actually is in footage of the festival on American Eagles website. Eventually we were able to get Britt's poster backstage so Anthony could see it and he took a picture with it!! Also I have a Chili Pepper asterisk on my lower back and the friendly lady who took the poster backstage took a picture of my tattoo and showed it to Anthony as well:) My friends and I were determined to meet this man who has changed our lives. The best part is my friend Grace manipulated her way back behind the security guys and as Anthony walked by this one guy goes "this girl is your biggest fan" and Anthony actually walked over to her and she got to full out hug him!!! I'm so jealous, she actually got to smell him and rest her head on him!! lol the first thing that came to her mind was me, Britt, and Carly standing at the fence thinking about how unbelieveable this was. She asked him to "please come meet my three best friends" and he came over to us and shook our hands as we each got to say a few words to him then a few others took advantage of the opportunity and Anthony had to leave. I did get the chance to ask him if he saw my tattoo and I was bending over showing him when he came over!! haha I gotta thank Grace for this:) Also quick note: we ran into this one girl who was a dancer for NASA and she said that Anthony Kiedis came into her dressing room when she was changing just to tell her she was sexy.. he didn't know she was changing at the time but how lucky is she.. she said how nice he was but she didn't seem as excited as she should have been hahah for the performance she and another girl were painted green and dressed in these silver bathing suits.

He was the original guitarist for the band, a virtuoso, a prodigy, and without him the band wouldn't exist today. He went to junior high with Flea and Jack Irons and the three attended Fairfax High School where one day Flea met Anthony because Anthony thought Flea was bullying this kid but really it was Flea's buddy. Hillel introduced Flea to Rock music and he taught him how to play the bass. Eventually Anthony Kiedis, Hillel Slovak, Mike Balzary and Jack Irons formed a band, Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem, but later became known as the Red Hot Chili Peppers! Hillel Slovak passed away on June 27, 1988 of a herion overdose. His brother James Slovak put together crushgroove.com so future Chili Pepper fans to come don't forget their roots. He was very familiar with all the guitar and bass parts for their early music. Frusciante was jamming with friend and Dead Kennedys drummer D.H. Peligro and D.H. invited Flea to jam and Flea and John clicked instantly. When Hillel died, Jack Irons left the band because it was all to hard to cope with. Flea proposed that Frusciante audition for the Red Hots and he was accepted. Soon after Chad Smith joined the band in 1988. The present day Peppers first album together was 1989's Mothers Milk:)
